19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
